    • RE: "Why Did I Do That? Exploring Impulsive Actions in School Settings"

      @Shaista-Begum
      Very good discussion on "Impulsive reactions" from students, teachers and parents. You've mentioned in detail not only these reactions and their impact on teaching learning but have mentioned reasons of these reactions and in the end have suggested remedies for these reactions. I appreciate your effort.

    • Managing Large Class

      How to manage a large class, in the context of language teaching, is no doubt challenging but right strategies are helpful in this respect. Here I tell you some tips to manage large class.

      1. Group work: Divide students in to small groups for activities.
      2. Incorporate Technology: Use tools like kahoot, padlet, googleclasdroom, quizziz etc.
      3. Implement Differentiated Instruction: Prepare material at different levels i,s basic, middle, advanced and ask students to choose tasks based on their comfort level.
      4. Use Flipped Classroom Model.
      5. Maximize Student Talk Time STT.
      6. Set clear routined and classroom rules.
      7. Use Peer Teaching and Student Leaders: Assign class leaders or monitors to help with attendance, group management and distribution of material.

    • Teaching Pronunciation

      Teaching Pronunciation
      Q: Why should we teach pronunciation?
      Ans: First let's learn the definition of pronunciation. "Pronunciation refers to how speach sounds, rhythm and intonation are produced to convey meaning. Pronunciation serves as a fundamental component of both speaking and listening abilities. To speak, we have to pronounce and to understand others, we have to understand and interpret their pronunciation.
      To what extent are pronunciation instruction and feedback actually effective?
      A combination of Form focused Instruction and corrective feedback improves the pronunciation development.
      Students recognise the importance of oral corrective feedback and seem less anxious about receiving it than their teachers do about providing it. (Darcy, 2018, p.28).
      Types of corrective feedback on pronunciation
      There are three types of corrective feedback on pronunciation. They are : Error correction feedback, Write on the board, Humming.
      1.Error correction feedback: These are of three types. They are : Recat, Repitition and asking for clarification.
      Recast: Here's and example of error correction feedback of Recast type.
      Student A: Why are you taking this course?
      Student B: Becsuse I want to deveLOP my english skills.
      Teacher (recasting): That's great it is important to deVElop your english skill step by step.
      Student B: Yeah.
      In this focus of correction is on "word stress"
      Repitition: In the same above dialogue the teacher repeats the sentence with rising intonation. " Becsuse I want tk deveLOP my english skills.
      Asking for clarification: In the above same dialogue teacher (requesting clarification): sorry, could you try the pronunciation of that verb again? Becsuse I want to......my english skills.
      These error correction techniques can work well considering they are well-timed and clear. Well-timed means is it enterrupting during task for pronunciation correction or can it be done delayed correction after the task? Clear means if a student does not recognise that a correction is being made (common with recast) the technique may not help.
      These error technique corrections may not work well if learners are corrected all the time. We are not able to correct the pronunciation mistakes of learners. It is neither manageable nor productive.
      2.Write on board: For example a student pronounce the word "were" as "where" the teacher writes the word "where" on board. The student prononce the same word as "war". Again the teacher writes the word "war" on board. At last student pronounce the word "were" correctly and teacher writes the correct word "were" on the board. In this way pronunciation is corrected by writing on board.
      3.Humming: In this technique when a student pronounce a word wrongly the teacher humms as "MM". The student realises that he has pronounced the word wrongly and he/she corrects it.

    • Giving Feedback

      Q: Why is it important to give feedback?
      Ans: Feedback is not only received but it can be given also. In this article I'm going to talk about giving feedback.Creative feedback refers to the responses learners receive when they make errors or they want to know weaknesses of their areas of learning. It is considered a crucial element in teaching. It guides learners to notice errors/weaknesses of their areas of learning in their own output. It promotes the development of learners in their own subjects. So it is important to give feedback to learners so as they not only know their errors/weaknesses of their areas of learning but improve them also.

      Yes you are right. Students like appreciation. Just as you appreciated your student by writing "you are my little shining star" you have asked with what words we will like to appreciate our students? I would like to appreciate my students with these wirds "you are Hero" "you are a beacon of light" etc.

      A child spends most of his time at home in comparison with school. Parents know better their chid's habits, attitudes and reactions to actions than teachers. For the educational wefare of childrens their should be close relations between home and school.
      How can better relations between home and school be established? What steps school administration take to establish relations between home and school? What role a teacher can play in this respect? Share your ideas.

      Re: How to Evolute the project of others regards compitation

      @Rafia-Khokhar
      To evaluate the projects of others you should keep in mind four things; (1) Relevance (2) Scability (3) Innovstion and (4) Interactivity
      (1) Is it related with the topic? Does it reflect the topic?
      (2) can it be replicated to other schools?
      (3) Is it innovative?
      (4) Is the content interacting?
      Keeping these four things projects of others are evaluated. You should give weightage to each when evaluating.

      @Irum-8ce591a061
      Yes, Irum, you are doing good job giving proper attention and care to those students who have some disabilities, slow learners and those who shy and have not confidence or have less confidence. Dealing with such students is some how difficult but a good teacher is he/she who gives special attention to these students. I'm also of the opinion that proper attention and care should be given to these students. Learning opportunities should be given to these students to make them useful persons of the society. It is s responsibility of a good teacher to teach all kinds of students equally so as all feel valued and take interest in learning. All students should be given equal opportunities of learning. I appreciate your efforts.

      @Zakia-soomro
      First we will have to understand the modern new trends in education at world level. In this respect first we should think about 21st century needs in education. So as we can bring our education system at world level. We will have to introduce technology in our education system properly so as our students can compete at world level. All digital skills should be taught to our students. Digitals tools should be given to schools. Internet facility should be given to all schools. In this way we can make our education system better. Community involvement is also necessary.

      @Basse9b9f534802
      Yeah I've tried the flipped classroom approach in my teaching. I record my lectures and upload on my youtube channel . My students watch these videos before coming to class. In class they work in groups and in pairs and take part in discussion. They give presentation also. I've observed that students are very active and concentrated. They take interest in different activities and learn more and easily than traditional teaching in which they are passive and learn less than flipped classroom approach. Their critical thinking, problem solving, communication and collaborative skills are improved in flipped classroom approach. They grasp knowledge more easily while working with their fellow students.

      Yeah I'm also of the opinion that the children affected by difficult home environment should be given proper counseling to remove their anxiety and distress so as they becone normal and take interest in studies and be saved from problematic behavior. In this respect counseling of their parents is also necessary.

    • Connecting Classrooms to Real Life: Making Learning Effective Through Everyday Real Life Examples

      Re: Connecting Classrooms to Real Life: Making Learning Effective Through Everyday Real Life Examples

      Yes, you are right in syaing linking lessons to real-life examples transforms how students engage with learning. You've asked very difficult question how do we link our our lessons to real life? I teach languge, English to students of grade ten. I'm finding it difficult to tell you how do I link my lesson to real life? Any way I dare to tell you. I don't know whether you will satisfy with my example or not. I give you one example here. When I teach Direct Indirect Speech to my students. First of all I call three students in front of class. I ask student A to say student B something. Then I ask student C to ask student B what did he say to you? The student B will tell Student C what the student A said to him. This is a conversation in real life. Then I teach how to convey a message of one person to another person. Another way of communication is Chinese Whisper. The students stand in a queue. One student gives message to student standing in front. He gives messsge to next student standing behind him. In this way the message is to be conveyed to last student. In the end it is asked from the last student what message did he get. Whether he got complete message or not. Thirdly when teaching any lesson I link its some parts with real life so as students can understand the lesson fully. In this way I've found students concentrated on the topic. They don't divert their attention to anywhere else. But when we don't link our lessons with real life, the students don't become concentrated and their attention diverts to somewhere else and they don't understand the topic fully. They become very lazy and are sitting in class like statues. So it is necesssry to link lessons with real life. As it is said "Education is not to prepare for life but education is life itself".

      Re: Flipped Classroom Implementation: Share Your Experiences!
      I have applied Flipped Classroom approach to my teaching. I record my lectures and upload videos on my youtube channel youtube.com/gelccmatiari and ask students to watch videos on my youtube channel before coming to class. Moreover I've created whatsapp group of my class where I share videos of my youtube channel. The students watch these videos and come to classroom prepared. In classroom they take part in group work, pair work, discussion and presentation. This approach has enhanced students engagement and interest in learning. I've faced some challanges. These challanges include some students don't have access to internet and digital tools so they can't watch my videos, second challange is second language problem. Videos are in second language that is english so some students face to understand words properly. I comeover these challanges by making my videos shorter and understandable by using simple words so as students can understand. I've encouraged parrent's support and providing offline options.

      All 21st century skills are essential but in my opinion in all these skills creativity is the most important skill for children. All other skills have secondary importance but creativity has primary importance in my opinion. Creativity is such a skill which can lead a child to his livelyhood earning by himself easily and which will make him self sufficient. I don't deny other skills. No doubt they are also essential. So a child child should be taught different 21st century skills along with creativity.
