    • Teachers’ Role as Facilitators

Teaching is considered as a noble profession which prepares students for their future life. Teachers do not only impart knowledge and prepare students for annual examination including Boards examination but inspire them to prepare them for their practical life. There are many teachers with
passion who have dedicated their life to empower their students and make them a successful human being in their practical life. These teachers are the role models for other teachers. Teachers also use various pedagogies to develop positive self-concept in students. The following six criteria are normally used to consider teaching as profession:
      1.Organized body of professional knowledge
Teaching is an organized body of professional knowledge that separates teachers from others. Teachers are equipped with a body of knowledge and a set of pedagogies to teach students effectively.
      2. Social purpose of teaching
It serves the social purpose of life and teachers’ role is to help students to attain the social purpose.
      3. High professional status
The teaching profession has secured its well-deserved position in the society.
      4. Prepared through initial teacher preparation programmesTeachers are required to complete a teacher preparation programme followed by a period of induction or internship. Teachers are devoted to continuous development of their professional ability to deliver their service effectively.
      5. Capacity to make professional decisions
Teachers normally make a number of decisions about teaching and learning process. Teachers also
make professional decisions to diagnose learning needs, implement instructional plans, and evaluate
      progress of the students.
      6. Contribute to society
All teachers are expected to complete their professional preparation, enter the profession, and continue learning through CPD in order to progress in their careers. Teachers should provide personal and caring service to the students by diagnosing their learning needs and use the relevant pedagogies to promote their learning. Teachers’ pedagogies should contribute to the holistic development of students through active engagement and critical inquiry enabling them to become responsible citizens for contributing to democratic society.

    • RE: Students often mirror their teachers

@Shaista-Begum absolutely right Mam! whatever teacher does like teaching, dressing, actions, life style or behavior, students apply the same at their home or in class and also share with their parents about the behavior of teacher. So teacher is a role model
