@Sanaa said in Using Art as a Tool for Expression Across Subjects:
Very beautiful reflection! I’ve always said that rethinking a lesson through artistic expression can be a great solution for effective learning, driven by the joy and motivation of discovering.
As a visual arts teacher, I’ve worked with my French language colleagues. Students created artworks and then wrote short texts explaining their artistic process, which they presented in front of a jury made up of art and French teachers. We did this with senior high school students back in 2016, and it was a success.
This year, I worked again with my French colleagues, this time with 7th grade students. We filmed a video sequence, and it really boosted their desire to learn, read well, and express the text with voice, gesture, and posture
I also collaborated with my history and geography colleague to create a theater play about the various regions of the country, showcasing their distinct historical and geographical characteristics. This was both motivating and enjoyable for the students. It effectively engaged and inspired learners, particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds who often lack family support or encouragement in their education.

Yes, I’ve used drawing and role-play to teach science and social studies concepts. For example, students drew diagrams of the water cycle and acted out historical events. They were highly engaged and excited to participate. Expressing their learning through art made it easier for them to understand and remember the concepts. It also encouraged shy students to participate more confidently.
