Learning to Preserve Nature Together
Students of Sehriyo High School initiated a project to teach younger students about smart waste sorting and nature conservation. As part of the project, senior students conduct regular lessons for students in grades 1-4, explaining the importance of waste sorting and proper waste management.
The project includes practical lessons where younger pupils learn to distinguish between types of garbage and sort them correctly. The high school students have also prepared informative tutorials that contain simple and visual instructions on how to conserve nature. These tutorials help younger students to understand how their everyday actions can affect the environment.
The goal of the project is to develop environmental awareness in junior high school students from an early age and to teach them skills that will help them to conserve nature and take care of the planet. High school students act as mentors, which strengthens the bond between students of different ages and contributes to the creation of a friendly and responsible school community.

There are a lot of valuable projects in our school.
And I am really happy being a part of these projects.
Today I would like to tell you a little about one of them.
ARAL SEA PROJECT
Everyone knows the scale of the Aral Sea ecological problem. A laboratory has been set up at Sehriyo school. Here, students are tending a plant to study soil from the Aral Sea and the sustainable development of agricultural products on this soil. This hands-on project teaches them to grow their own food, understand ecosystems and appreciate the importance of sustainable practices.
Participants: pupils, teachers, researchers, scientists.- Objective: to recreate the conditions of the right environment of the Aral Sea.
- Soil and water from the Aral Sea.
- Actions: plant plants, create natural environmental conditions as in the Aral Sea.
- Air temperature, humidity, windiness, soil quality, soil components are fixed.
- The trick is that all these data are recorded to analyse the problems and their solutions.
- There are successes in this direction!
I only have a presentation (pdf version) in Russian Language.

ECO-EDUCATION
Incorporating eco-education into the school curriculum is an important step towards the formation of an environmentally conscious generation. Eco-education promotes understanding of the importance of environmental protection and sustainable development.
Many teachers do not know how to introduce eco-education into the school program:
Idea #1
Create integrated lessons
Biology and Geography: Lessons on ecology, learning about ecosystems, biodiversity and climate change.
Physics and Chemistry: Study energy conservation, renewable energy, chemical processes and their impact on the environment.
Literature and History: Reading and discussing works on environmental topics, studying the history of environmental movements.
English: English lessons can easily be combined with geography and biology. The main thing is to create a masterpiece lesson in collaboration with the teacher of the subject.Idea #2
Organize extracurricular activities such as:
School Projects: Organize tree planting activities, clean up local parks, and participate in recycling events. If you still want to learn more about this, you are welcome to visit Sehriyo School, Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
Eco-clubs: Create a school club where students can discuss environmental issues, participate in environmental contests, debates and initiatives.
Field trips and camps: Organize field trips to natural sites, ecological excursions and summer camps dedicated to learning about the environment.
Idea #3
Hands-on learning:
School Gardens: Create and support school gardens where students can learn to grow plants and care for nature.Idea #4
Use of Technology:
Online Courses and Resources: Incorporate online environmental resources and courses, using interactive applications and games to explore environmental issues.Virtual labs: Conduct virtual experiments to study human impact on the environment.
There are numerous advantages of eco-education.
First of all, it supports the formation of ecological consciousness. It is no secret that in this way students learn about the importance of conservation and develop an informed attitude towards the planet's resources.
It is not insignificant that it supports the development of critical thinking. Critical thinking helps to analyze environmental problems and search for solutions that in the future can become a source of preserving Planet Earth in good condition.
And there is also an interesting point - it prepares the younger generation for the future. Sustainability education prepares students for life in a world where environmental concerns are becoming more and more important.
Eco-education not only helps to reduce the ecological footprint, but also fosters a responsible generation ready to care for the planet and take an active part in its preservation. If you really support my ideas don`t forget to me

Our first action planting trees
My students and I plant palonia trees in the school garden and take meticulous care of them. We water the trees, trim the branches and monitor their growth. Sehriyo School always supports eco-activities and projects, inspiring us to take care of nature and create a green space for future generations.
I know, the pictures are very low quality. But these particular photos are precious to me because it was my first tree. I am proud of it, and I think my students are too.But now we are profi, because the number of trees we planted is much more

a project to green the territory of the Mehr dog shelter
Students of Sehriyo School have developed a project to green the territory of the Mehr dog shelter. The campaign is held annually and has already become a tradition. The sixth graders take responsibility for the project every year. Pupils plant trees and bushes, decorate the territory with flowers, making the stay of dogs in the shelter more comfortable. All data, files and photos from the activities can be found on the Mehr Shelter website. This project helps students to develop a sense of responsibility and care for animals, as well as to contribute to improving the environmental situation.
This photo shows students from my class.
I love organizing such actions with my students. -
Battery Smart Boxes
Hello everyone from sunny Uzbekistan!
Today I would like to tell you about Battery Smart Boxes.
A project at Sehriyo School aims to collect used batteries to reduce environmental damage. Students are aware that batteries contain harmful substances that can pollute the environment. As part of the project, a special box for collecting used batteries has been installed in the school. This box has a built-in indicator that counts the number of batteries brought in. For each battery brought in, the pupil receives an "Elkie" - the school's monetary unit. Elks can be used in school activities or exchanged for various rewards. The project helps students not only to protect nature, but also to develop environmental awareness and responsibility. It also encourages students to take an active part in school life and care about the future of the planet.
In these pictures you can see the box with indicator and without indicator version too. -
Online platforms VS Paper
Hello everyone from sunny Uzbekistan.
I would like to encourage you to make extensive use of Internet resources in education.
In today's world, technology plays a key role in education. The use of internet resources and online platforms can significantly reduce the use of paper, contributing to environmental sustainability. One of the main advantages is access to learning materials in digital format. E-textbooks, articles and resources replace traditional printed publications, reducing paper waste. Online platforms such as Google Classroom and Moodle provide convenient tools to organise the learning process. Teachers can post assignments, tests, and study materials digitally, and students can complete assignments and turn them in online, eliminating the need for printed versions.
Virtual whiteboards, such as Padlet and Jamboard, allow students and teachers to collaborate on projects and share ideas without the use of paper. Electronic notes and documents are replacing paper notes, providing easy access to information and the ability to edit it at any time.
The use of Internet resources and online platforms not only reduces the ecological footprint, but also improves the quality of education, making it more accessible and effective.
I look forward to your if you like the idea.
