• Formative Assessments

Formative assessments are tools used to guide and improve both teaching and learning processes. They help uncover misunderstandings and learning gaps, allowing for timely adjustments and feedback. The goal is to enhance student understanding and instructional strategies.

Examples include: quizzes, classroom reflections, hinge questions, surveys, and collaborative activities.

Please share your favourite and effective formative assessment tools and it's impact on your students learning.

  • @Erum-Zahid One of my favourite formative assessment tools is hinge questions—they help me quickly check student understanding during a lesson and adjust my teaching on the spot. I also use collaborative activities and exit tickets to uncover learning gaps and guide my next steps. These tools make learning more interactive, responsive, and student-focused.
