• Sparking Change: Classroom Conversations on Girls’ Education

In my classroom, I see bright, curious girls with dreams of becoming teachers, doctors, artists, pilots and engineers. They are everything what you would call an ideal student. They are multi-talented and are eager to learn; however, they face one difficulty; i.e. lack of time and support. Their dreams are shattered by the stereotypes of the society. They are expected to carry the weight of expectations far beyond their age and are told that their first role is to care for others; their ambitions, passions and potential come second. It is the matter of gender equality that the world still struggles to achieve.

I believe change is constant and we all need a change in perspective. We need special lenses to truly see the potential in our girls: as leaders, innovators, caregivers and change makers.

So how do we shift this mindset? How do we help parents, elders and girls themselves understand that a girl’s education is not a burden but their right and the foundation for a better world?

  • Change is the only constant in life an undeniable force shaping our world, our communities, and our identities. Yet, for all the progress we witness, true transformation begins not only in the systems around us but in the perspectives we choose to hold.

To build a more inclusive and inspired future, we need to stop viewing girls through outdated filters filters that often define them by limitations rather than possibility. It’s time to put on new lenses. Not the kind made of glass, but the kind crafted from awareness, empathy, and belief.

Through these lenses, we can begin to see girls as they truly are: leaders who move mountains, innovators who spark revolutions, caregivers who nurture the future, and changemakers who refuse to accept the status quo. These roles aren’t mutually exclusive they exist simultaneously, powerfully intertwined in the full expression of a girl’s potential.

But recognizing this isn’t enough. We need to invest in the spaces where these lenses are made: our homes, our schools, our communities, and our media. We need to amplify voices that have been overlooked, mentor talents that have been doubted, and celebrate victories that have been ignored.

Because when we change how we see our girls, we change what they see in themselves. And that changes everything.
