  • @Uzma-qamar dear as a teacher we need to see what are the problems faced by passive learners first . We can make some activities to make them socially interactive . Also can give them task to leas the group or an activity that I use in my class is to make 5 helping hands in class so with some special task to give them . So that they be more active and more exposed to give response.

    I agree @Uzma-qamar
    Hope everything is going well,

Active learning is such a powerful approach because it puts our students at the center of their educational experience. More important if we are working with SPED students. By engaging them in thinking, discussions, and hands-on activities, we're not just teaching them content but also helping them develop critical skills like problem-solving, creativity, and communication. The idea of students explaining concepts in their own words is particularly important, it's in that process of articulation that real understanding happens.

And you're right about the importance of timely feedback; constructive criticism, when done positively, can significantly enhance the learning process by guiding students in refining their ideas and approaches. This method truly prepares students for real-world challenges by encouraging them to think independently and collaboratively.

  • Hello UZMA
To transform passive learners into active ones, create a supportive and engaging learning environment that fosters a growth mindset and emphasizes student-centered approaches. Incorporate active learning techniques like problem-based learning, group work, and interactive activities, while utilizing technology to make learning dynamic. Encourage reflection, self-assessment, and provide timely, constructive feedback. Motivate students by connecting lessons to real-world applications, offering choice and autonomy, and modeling active learning behaviors yourself. By doing so, students become more engaged, motivated, and responsible for their own learning.

  • Thanks for sharing your thoughts about this topic. Active learning can combine many elements to be a successful process. Here are some hints : Teacher should :
*Encourage group work and peer interaction.
    *Use experiments, projects, and simulations.
*Facilitate debates and conversations about the material.
*Present real-world problems for students to solve.
*Allow time for students to reflect on their learning.
    *Provide timely and constructive feedback.
*Use diverse methods and tools to maintain interest.
*Focus on students’ needs and interests. * Incorporate formative assessments.

  • Active learning is a method where students actively participate in their education by thinking, discussing, creating things, and experimenting in class. In this approach, students practically apply their skills, solve problems, tackle difficult questions, and express their thoughts in their own words, often clarifying them through discussions.

When students present solutions and explain ideas in their own words, it deepens their understanding. In the learning process, it is very important to receive timely feedback from either the teacher or other classmates. If this feedback is given in a positive way, it can further improve and refine the educational experience.

One more way to transform passive learner into active learner I think is first find out who are active learners and who are passive learners then make mixed groups of active and passive learners. Then give them task and leave them free to work in groups. The active learner students will transform passive learners into active learner slowly and gradually. A teacher should only watch and guide fhem. He should also see that passive learners are participating in group activities. When he sees some passive learners ars not taking part in activities he should encourage them for participating in the activity. The other way is pair work. While making pairs one student should be active and other should be passive. Then give them simple tasks so as passive learner can take part. Start from dimple tasks to difficult tasks like easy dialogues to difficult dialogues.

    Hi @Uzma-qamar
    Hope everything is going well.

Encouraging students with special needs to actively engage with the material through thinking, discussions, creating, and problem-solving truly deepens their understanding and retention of knowledge. When students with disability are actively involved in their learning, they’re more likely to develop practical skills and gain the confidence to tackle complex questions.

The idea of having students explain their ideas in their own words, whether through writing or discussion, is so powerful and something that I promote. It not only helps solidify their understanding but also encourages them to think critically and creatively. Plus, it fosters a classroom environment where students feel more comfortable sharing their thoughts and learning from one another.

    Best,
