Gender-neutral open educational resources are materials that are free and openly licensed which are designed and can be used without gender bias or stereotypes. An example of how openness and gender neutrality can be combined is, in lower secondary schools in Bhutan, teachers use Department of Curriculum and Professional Development (DCPD) digital textbooks and lesson videos which is gender-neutral OERs. For example, English reading lessons include stories where both girls and boys are portrayed as leaders, problem-solvers, farmers, scientists, and community helpers, reflecting Bhutanese life without stereotyping gender roles. Activities and illustrations show equal participation of girls and boys in debates, group work, and outdoor learning. Since these OERs are freely accessible online and offline, all students, regardless of gender or location, have equal learning opportunities. Teachers can adapt the materials to ensure inclusive language and balanced representation, supporting gender equality. In this way OER support equitable excess to education.

I am Sonam Wangmo from Bhutan. My expectation from the course was to learn and know more about how I could use the ICT in a more equitable manner in the process of teaching and learning of english language in my school. I particularly became interested in the topic because, we are dealing with 21st century learners who are digital savy no matter what gender or background they come from. I thought it was important for me to get acquainted with all topics related to ICT and be at par with the needs and demands of my students.
