• Professional Development Training

    Hi,
To much extent do you think professional development is important for teachers? Share some of the way for teachers to upgrade their teaching skills?

  • Here I am sharing some strategies for teachers to learn from each other and address classroom problems together.

Spending deliberate time with colleagues who have similar classes, approaches, or subjects can be very helpful. Find a professional learning partner to check in with regularly. Make time to swap ideas, discuss issues, and brainstorm solutions to shared challenges.

Frequent opportunities to compare and contrast experiences build community among teachers and can reinvigorate your lessons. Bringing together educators with different viewpoints regularly fosters professional growth. Gather in small groups once or twice during the session to reflect and share what is and isn’t working in your classes. This collaborative brainstorming session can help you and your students overcome obstacles.

While more effortful to organize, observing your peers in action can yield valuable practices. With school leadership support, participate in a learning walk with a small team. Use a prep period to observe others’ lessons briefly. If feasible, establish an open-door policy with your colleagues. Develop guidelines to minimize disruptions. Observing other teachers with a learning focus, rather than evaluation, can provide fresh insights for your own classes. Teaching needn’t be done in isolation. Dedicating time for collaboration and problem-solving with fellow educators can be game-changing.

Note: What do you think about bringing educators together with different viewpoints? Is it useful for classroom learning.

  • @Iqra-khan Professional development programs help the educators with not only adding new skill sets to their resumes but also learning new teaching tools and techniques and building professional relationships They also help educators in connecting their subject material to the newly learned skills and use these skills to optimise their understanding of their or the subject matter.Teachers need to be constantly in the learning process and schools and other institutes can thrive on various professional development programs for teachers to tap into the opportunity to improve the learning environment in the classrooms.

  • @ALHAYf5f1a595df Professional development is the continuous process of enhancing your skills, knowledge, and competencies in your career. It can take various forms, such as: Completing training programs. Attending events (for example, workshops, conferences, and seminars) Pursuing additional education.

  • @Iqra-khan
A teacher should not be satisfied with what he knows. He must continue to self-educate, develop, so that he always has something to say to his students, is able to share his experience with his colleagues and can prove himself in any situation. In the end, I want to conclude by saying that if a teacher is satisfied with what he knows, then he will no longer be competitive as a specialist.

Applying lesson study at school so that it will help in developing teachers performance

  • @Iqra-khan we have here in our school in Egypt something called "training unit" ... you can find it at any school governmental, official or private school... this unit responsible for developing teachers performance and it has a team chosen from the teachers of school and 2 or 3 members out of school like professor from University or trainer... this team has regular meetings... they put a plan according according teachers needs , then they follow this training and takes feedback from the trainees then they assess the progress of teachers performance... the trainings could be face to face at school time or online. The trainers could be from the teachers of the school themselves based of their qualifications , or if they didn't find someone from teachers make the training the unit try to exchange from another school or find a trainer or collaborate with the nearest university and find professor present this training they need ....

  • @Iqra-khan yes its very important to up grade our skills by attending different trainings, conferences and seminars.
