Today I would like to tell you about Battery Smart Boxes.
A project at Sehriyo School aims to collect used batteries to reduce environmental damage. Students are aware that batteries contain harmful substances that can pollute the environment. As part of the project, a special box for collecting used batteries has been installed in the school. This box has a built-in indicator that counts the number of batteries brought in. For each battery brought in, the pupil receives an "Elkie" - the school's monetary unit. Elks can be used in school activities or exchanged for various rewards. The project helps students not only to protect nature, but also to develop environmental awareness and responsibility. It also encourages students to take an active part in school life and care about the future of the planet.
In these pictures you can see the box with indicator and without indicator version too.

The most common battery enclosures are made from plastic materials that are resistant to alkaline solutions and have a high impact strength.

It creatively combines ecological responsibility with student engagement and reward systems. By incentivizing the collection of used batteries, the school is not only preventing harmful substances from polluting the environment but also instilling important values in its students.
The use of a digital counter on the box is a clever way to gamify the process, making it more interactive and appealing to students. The "Elkie" reward system further motivates participation while teaching valuable lessons about circular economy concepts.
Projects like this are crucial in developing environmental awareness from a young age. They empower students to take tangible actions for sustainability, potentially influencing their families and communities as well. The long-term impact of such initiatives can be significant in shaping environmentally conscious citizens for the future.
Keep fostering curiosity, nurturing potential, and making a lasting impact on your students' lives.
