I created Faseeh, a voice-based Arabic learning platform designed to support blind and sighted learners alike. It teaches Arabic prosody, grammar, and vocabulary through interactive voice games, making the learning process hands-free, fun, and fully accessible.

This tool isn’t just for schools. It's for parents, poets, students, and lifelong learners,anyone who wants to connect deeply with the Arabic language, regardless of ability.

My goal is to break down access barriers and promote independence and equity in education.

Intellectual development enhances inclusive teaching by equipping students with the tools to engage deeply with learning, regardless of their individual differences. As students build skills like reasoning, analysis, and independent thinking, they’re more prepared to learn in ways that suit their personal style. This helps teachers adapt instruction to support every learner and ensures that all students feel capable and included in the classroom community.

In the early years of learning, language is not just a tool — it’s a comfort zone. For many students, especially in diverse or rural classrooms, their mother tongue is the first language they use to express emotions, understand the world, and ask questions.

Yet in many schools, students are forced to immediately switch to English or a national language, often without enough support. This can create confusion, fear, and silence, instead of confidence and curiosity.

Why the Mother Tongue Matters:

• It builds a strong foundation for learning new concepts

• Helps students feel safe, respected, and included

• Encourages classroom participation

• Reduces dropout rates in early grades

• Strengthens cultural identity

Instead of viewing mother tongue as a barrier, let’s use it as a bridge to second-language learning. A child who understands a concept in their own language will grasp it more confidently in any other language later.

Practical Approaches:

Start lessons with explanations in the mother tongue, then shift to English gradually

Allow students to respond in their comfort language during early learning

Use bilingual teaching aids, visuals, and storytelling

Respect all languages spoken in the classroom — make it a safe space for expression

What is Faseeh?
Faseeh is a digital platform that teaches Arabic grammar and poetic meter (prosody) to both blind and sighted students. It uses:

Why is it important?

Project-Based Learning (PBL) offers a dynamic alternative that places students at the center of their learning experience. By engaging with real-world problems and meaningful projects, students not only learn academic content more deeply but also develop essential life skills.

Unlike traditional methods, PBL encourages critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and communication —skills crucial for the 21st-century workforce. Students take ownership of their learning, explore topics in depth, and often produce tangible outcomes that they can be proud of. This active involvement results in better retention, deeper understanding, and stronger motivation.

Moreover, PBL is inclusive. It allows diverse learners to shine through various roles and contributions within a project. Teachers, in turn, become facilitators and guides, creating a classroom culture rooted in inquiry and innovation.

In a recent classroom experience, integrating PBL into mathematics through a flipped classroom model helped students grasp abstract concepts like set theory more concretely. The hands-on tasks and collaborative learning environment significantly increased engagement and understanding.

AI language tools like Google Translate, Microsoft Translator, and Grammarly support students who are English Language Learners, helping them understand content and express themselves more clearly.

AI can analyze student performance data to highlight learning gaps. Platforms like Schoology and Knewton provide teachers with insights and recommendations, enabling targeted intervention and smarter teaching strategies.

This is a great reminder that we have a lot of strength when we embrace diversity and try to understand each other.
As educators, we have a major responsibility in shaping how our students see and interact with the world around them. Every class is an opportunity to teach them empathy, respect for others, and how to appreciate different perspectives.
